Under passe-partout, framed (not studied outside frame).
Large panoramic view of Naples showing the city from the Castel dell'Ovo in the west to the Ponte della Maddalena in the east, with the observer placed in the centre of the Bay. With key below. After F.B. Werner and published by the heirs of Jeremias Wolff. Georg Balthasar Probst married Wolff's daughter Sibilla and inherited his copper plates; he first published the plate in ca. 1731. His son Georg Friedrich Probst published the plate without any topographical changes a second time in 1740. Werner's design results from a journey to Italy, dating back to ca. 1731. As it was destined for the German market, it aimed to satisfy northern tastes.
