Contemp. calf with gilt coat of arms, gilt orn. spine with 5 raised bands.

First edition, first part only (thus without the atlas vol.), complete in itself, of this manual dealing with the planning and construction of domestic architecture, the choice of materials as well as customs in real estate and expert reports. Although attributed to Charles-Étienne Briseux (ca. 1680-1754), the "Architecture Moderne" is probably a compilation by Jombert. Illustrated with an engr. front. by Lucas after J. Courtonne depicting a temple and 6 engr. fold. plates depicting numerous plans, elevations and sections.
