Contemp. mottled calf, gilt coat of arms on covers, gilt-orn. flat spines, marbled edges.

First edition and one of the most important sources of knowledge about the campaigns of Charles XII after journals of G. Adlerfeld (1671-1709) who was "gentleman of the court" and followed Charles XII on his military campaigns. He was killed by a cannonball in the Battle of Poltava. Ill. with an engr. front. portr. by P.
