Contemp. mottled calf, gilt coat of arms on covers, gilt-orn. flat spines, marbled edges.
First edition and one of the most important sources of knowledge about the campaigns of Charles XII after journals of G. Adlerfeld (1671-1709) who was "gentleman of the court" and followed Charles XII on his military campaigns. He was killed by a cannonball in the Battle of Poltava. Ill. with an engr. front. portr. by P. Tanjé after Kraft, 4 engr. vign. on title, an engr. headp. and 6 fold. engr. pl. showing "Ordre de bataille de l'armée danoise", "Plan de campement de Humblebeck", "Ordre de bataille de l'armee de Suede", "Plan de la ville de Narva", "Carte du cours de la Duna" and "Plan de la bataille de Pultowa".
