Rare first edition of this work on civil architecture by the Dutch printer and bookseller W. Goeree (1635-1711). Illustrated with an engr. front., vign. on title and headpieces. The work deals with the classical orders but moreover gives the civil authorities of the time guidance during construction jobs, pointing out a typology of the various kinds of buildings both private and public, urban and rural, combining ancient and present theories.
