Small manuscript relating to the Benedictine nuns of Kortenberg Abbey.

4to (ca. 21,5 x 16,5 cm): [11] paper ff. - [6 (of 7)] vellum ff. (1 f. cut out) - [39] blank paper ff., on paper and vellum, in Dutch and Latin.

Contemp. gold-tooled mottled calf, cover with gilt-ruled border and inside corner ornaments, gilt central ornaments on covers (front: Crucifixion; back: Holy Virgin), gilt flat spine, a.e.g. (spine split). Gilt inscriptions on upper cover "Abdye van Kortenberge" and lower cover "Anno 1634". In good condition.

Unfinished (?). Only 5 pp. with text (and some minor scribbling on a few "blank" ff.). Two pages (paper) contain a Dutch description of the ritual of profession (18th c.), and three pages (vellum) with Latin prayers and songs (17th c.), with a later Dutch heading "voor den jubilé van eene Religieus". Loosely inserted: modern copy of an old manuscript map of the Abbey’s surroundings.
