Drawing, brush and grey wash with traces of graphite, 22,5 x 17 cm, laid paper with watermark of 1778 (Pro Patria, similar to Churchill: 426), signed in pen and brown ink at lower left corner "F. Xaverij f." (some min. foxing).

Stuck by upper corners under passe-partout.

Franciscus Xaverius Xavery (1740-1788) was the son of the Dutch sculptor Jean-Baptiste Xavery, and worked in The Hague where he specialised in landscapes.
