8vo: [16]-725 [= 723]-[4-1 bl.], [14]-120 [= 124]-[5-1 bl.] pp. (usual toning and spotting, stain at bl. bottom edge of final ff.).
Contemp. gold-tooled leather, covers with gilt orn. ruled border and central oval arms, flat spine with gilt-orn. frames, a.e.g., (later) marbled endpapers. Good copy.
Jesuit adaptation of the extensive collection of classical adages of the Alsatian humanist C. Wolffhart (1518-1561), together with a censured version of Erasmus’ Parabolae (incl. the dedicatory letter to Petrus Aegidius). Woodcut device on title and part title. General title printed in red & black; text in 2 col.
