Atlas only with plates on the celestial spheres, the Egyptian zodiac, the cult of Mithra, etc. In his work on the origin of all religious worship, the Enlightenment thinker Dupuis (1742-1809) advocated the unity of astronomical and religious myths, arguing that an ancient universal religion, drawing its beliefs from the observation of natural phenomena, had influenced ancient rituals in Syria, Egypt and Persia, as well as the Christian story which was allegorised as the history of solar deities, such as Sol Invictus.
