Venetian repr. (1st Augsburg 1744) of an extensive treatise on mysticism, esp. on visions by the Bavarian Augustinian canon lawyer Amort (1692-1775). It was composed as a rational attack on the religious visions described in “Mistica Ciudad de Dios” (1722) by the Spanish Franciscan abbess Maria de Jesús or Maria de Ágreda (1602-1655), describing her revelations about the terrestrial and heavenly life, received directly from (dictated by) the Blessed Virgin Mary. Woodcut mark on title. Ref. Not in BnF, BL. Prov. Libr. & collect. stamp.
