3012 pieces (of which 651 coloured and 14 loosely added) in 2 large (of which one signed W. Anton Abels Utrecht) and 5 smaller binders, various sizes: ± 14 x 9 - 24 x 18 cm.

Collected throughout all generations: from King Leopold I (1790-1865) and queen Louise-Marie (1812-1850) to King Albert II (b. 1934) and queen Paola (b. 1937). The photographs depict a wide range of subjects. There are family pictures of all the monarchs, incl. childhood pictures and private moments such as decorating a Christmas tree or vacations (e.g. Leopold I and his young children Prince Philippe, Count of Flanders, and Charlotte, Empress of Mexico; Leopold II and his children, incl. pictures of princess Clémentine and her husband Victor, Prince Napoléon; Albert I and his children, esp. Marie-José, the later queen of Italy; Leopold III and his children from both marriages; Baudouin; Albert II and his children and grandchildren). Other pictures are state portraits and pictures of Baudouin (1951) and Albert II (1993) taking the oath; weddings (e.g. Leopold III and Astrid 1926, Albert II and Paola 1959, Baudouin and Fabiola 1960, Astrid and Lorenz 1984, Philippe and Mathilde 1999, Laurent and Claire 2003); funerals (e.g. queen Astrid 1935, Baudouin 1993); important state visits of other monarchs (some in full regalia); pictures of meetings with famous people (Baudouin with Frank Sinatra, Albert II and Paola with Audrey Hepburn and Mel Ferrer), audiences with pope John Paul II, genealogical trees, military parades, royal residences such as the Palace of Laeken including the Royal Greenhouses, the Villa Stuyvenberg, ...
