Rare first separate edition in French of Soemmerring's monograph on ocular anatomy, orig. publ. in 1801 as "Abbildungen des menschlichen Auges". A 1804 Latin translation was the source for the French version. By the German physician, anatomist, anthropologist, paleontologist and inventor von Soemmerring (1755-1830). 28 full-page plates, protected with tissue guards, of which 3 hand-coloured (plates 9 & 10 present in both coloured and uncoloured states, in addition to the outline version) and 13 in outline. Engr. by Forster, Lebas, Pomel, Mougeot and Sixdeniers. The plates are also issued, with additional ones, as vol. 4 or atlas of "Traité des maladies des yeux" by Demours.
