First scene from a plate with 8 images by Daniel Hopfer (ca. 1470-1536), illustrating Matthew 23. The complete plate has Hopfer's monogram at centre. In this specific scene, Christ shows the Apostles how the Pharisees do not enter heaven nor let those who are trying to (Matthew 23:13). Since the impression is cut, it is unclear from which state it was pulled. Later impression on thick laid paper.
