Drawing, pen and brown ink, 24 x 31,5 cm, cream laid paper with watermark (fleur-de-lis de Strasbourg), signed in pen at the bottom "fait à la plume par A. Overlaet à Anvers".
Cupid taming a lion, symbolising the Horatian saying that love conquers all. Drawn in the typical style of Overlaet, imitationg the hatchings of burin engravings.
Joined, 5 drawings, pen and brown ink: 1. Idem - Portrait of a scholar. 15 x 12 cm, laid paper, signed and dated in the lower margin "A. Overlaet f. 1771".-- 2. Idem - Roundel with peasants in a wagon on the country side. Diameter 11 cm, laid paper, signed and dated "Calamô A. Overlaet Antv. 1769".-- 3. J. E. Pompe - Two peasants after Teniers. 13 x 10 cm, laid paper with watermark, signed in pen at lower margin "J. E. Pompe".-- 4-5. Vanden Bogaert, A. - The Ratcatcher (after Rembrandt) and the clog maker (after Van Ostaede). 13,5 x 12 cm and 16,7 x 14 cm, cream laid paper, both signed and dated in the lower margin "A. vanden Bogaert Fecit 1770".
