Description du lot
Hand-coloured engraving, 60 x 51 cm, laid paper, signed at top "Gravé par Hunin à Malines" (several small tears in margins, various creases and stains).
Illusionistic board with paper money and bonds issued during the early years of the First French Republic. Often these trompe l'oeil drawings were a critique on the devaluation of the Financial market after the Revolution and the years of terror. Hunin (1770-1851) was a painter and engraver from Mechelen, mostly known for his topographical drawings and devotional prints.
