Very interesting collection of old bindings from France, Germany, the Netherlands, etc. I.a. lge folio blindstamped pigskin over wood, central panelstamp with Christ crucified and "O crux ave spes unica" (soiled). - Blindstamped Antwerp binding (?), signed "PHR 1546", with representations of St Paul, St Peter, symbols of the Evangelists, and Luther (only one cover, some wormholes and def.). - 16th c. blindstamped calf over wood, lge metal cornerpcs and knobs on both covers. - 17th c. blindstamped calf over wood, large central panel "IHS". - Two nice 17th c. blindstamped calf over wood bindings (covers loose) with metal cornerpcs, metal catches & clasps (clasps of 1 binding gone). - Three 17-18th-c. lge folio giltruled vellum bindings with lge central elaborately gilt ornament (soiled).
