Contemp. mottled calf, gilt orn. spine with raised bands, marbled edges matching endpapers (sl. rubbed, joints parlty split).

Eighth edition of this work on surgery by the French anatomist and obstetrics surgeon P. Dionis (1643-1718). Illustrated with an engr. author's portrait, 1 frontispiece (amphiteater lesson), 16 plates (2 fold.) and 61 in texto woodcuts. "Dionis taught operative surgery at the Jardin-du-Roi, a famous training ground for surgeons" (Garrison & Morton).
