Very rare only edition of this historiographically important eyewitness account of the Siege of Ostend (1601-1604), by Ph. Fleming (1557-1621). Cp. A. Simoni, The Ostend story (2003). Engr. ill.: vign. on title, 16 double-page and 1 folding plates, 11 full-page portraits (incl. 1 of the author), 1 full-page coat of arms and 1 portrait of Maurice of Nassau on horseback before the walls of Ostend. He took the city in 1601, to be recaptured by Archduke Albert in 1604. Printed in gothic type.
