Lot description

8vo: [1-1 bl.]-vi (= 6)-[2]-118 pp. (some spotting).

Contemp. gold-tooled red leather, covers with elaborately gilt border frame, richly gilt spine, gilt sides, a.e.g., marbled endpapers (spine sl. tanned and with 2 sm. holes, corners def.). Very good copy.

Second corr. edition, published in the same year as the first, of a philosophical treatise on free will and determinism by the English deist, freethinker and friend of Locke, A. Collins (1676-1719). He was an adept of the doctrine of necessitarianism. The work was praised by Voltaire, Priestley and the French materialists.
