Lot description
Oval c. 7 x 5,5 cm, minor traces of oxidation, photographer's label on verso, in a later hand "Michel Claikens".
Wooden frame, oval c. 13 x 11 cm.
Portrait of a man holding a book in his left hand. Plumier (1819-1888) was a painter, daguerreotypist and photographer. He was the son of a distiller from Liège and learned to daguerreotype in Paris. Plumier opened a studio in Liège at "Boulevard de la Sauvenière" (address on label) in 1843.
