Enlarged scholarly ed. of an anonymous early 5th-c. Roman state handbook, 1st completely edited by Sigismundus Gelenius (1477-1554) and Beatus Rhenanus (1485-1547) in 1552 from a lost medieval manuscript. It is arranged according to the provinces of the Roman Empire and their cities and deals with politics, government, provincial administration, and military establishment of Rome, as well as other aspects of Roman life. Large woodcut mark on title and part titles. Over 135 large woodcuts. General title printed in red & black. Text in 2 col.
