Lot description

2 works in 1 vol., 4to: [8]-111-[1 bl.], [8]-114-[14] pp. (some spotting).

Contemp. blond calf, double gilt-ruled border and central gilt coat of arms on boards, another smaller gilt coat of arms on front cover, gilt repeated heraldic tool on spine with raised bands (very sl. soiled, corners rubbed, front joint split, sm. def. at head & tail). Nice copy.

1st editions of 2 works on Antiquity by the Leiden classical scholar J. Meursius (1579-1639). "Orchestra" is the 1st monograph on ancient dancing since Antiquity. With indexes i.a. on dances and authors. "Fortuna attica" is on ancient Athens. Both works in roman and Greek type. Woodcut mark on titles.
