Rare complete 1st ed. illustrated with garden plans, floor plans and views of Roman villas: Albani, Medici, Borghese, Farnesina, Madama, Altieri, Giustiani, Aldobrandini, Caprarola, etc., also with engr. section titles and vignettes. Percier met Fontaine in Rome, it was the start of a long collaboration. Influenced by Italian Renaissance architecture, Percier and Fontaine developped into the leading proponents of Empire Neoclassicism.
