"A E. Deru, mon très cher élève et grand ami. Bien affectueusement, Ostende 12 Août 1904". In all probability Edouard Deru (1875-1928), Belgian violinist and pedagogue. Deru studied at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels in the class of Eugène Ysaÿe. He became concertmaster at La Monnaie. During this period, he often played as a soloist at the Concerts Populaires and the Concerts Ysaÿe in Brussels.
