Lot description
Woodcut, 26,5 x 16 cm, laid paper, signed and dated in block at lower left (borderline broken in three places).
Published in Johannes Carion's "Chronica. Von anfang der Welt", published in 1578 in Wittenberg. Carion's Chronicles became an important work in Lutheran and more generally Protestant millenarian thought. Very good impression with the block border almost intact. Text on verso.
