Old richly gold-tooled leather, covers with elab. gilt central ornament, corner pieces and ornamental border, gilt titled spine with 5 raised bands, a.e.g., marbled endpapers (rebacked, rubbed at edges, corners def.). Good copy.

Re-issue of the original ed. of a collection of images accompanied by prayers in 3 sequences. The largest series consists of 35 two-page openings comprising 70 plates devoted to the mass. Each individual opening includes one page with prayers in Latin and French inscribed between two saints and an opposing page delineating a specific portion of the service with a priest officiating before an altar assisted by acolytes. The particular stage of the mass is also illustrated with a corresponding episode from the Passion of Christ in the top of the image.
