Lot description
Drawing, pen and black ink with brown and grey wash, heightened with white, 40,5 x 57 cm, laid paper, unsigned (laid down on backing paper, trimmed to the right, old glue marks with traces of blue paper at left and upper edges, 4 small tears at upper edges, some stains).
A Roman procession leading bulls to be sacrificed (possibly an episode from the life of Tarquinius Superbus and Accius). Perhaps a drawing in preparation of a fresco wall painting, inspired by the drawing style and mythological iconography by Giulio Romano and Andrea Mantegna.
