Publisher's binding: half grey paper, patterned paper with green and pink daisies on covers, black lettered label on front cover, flat spine (joints and spine sl. browned, flyleaves browned).

First edition. Decorated with a frontispiece designed and engr. by L. Binyon, borders on pp. 6-7, initials and decorations by Lucien Pissarro engraved by his wife Esther. Eragny's mark on last leaf. Work printed in "Brooke type" in black, green and red. Edition limited to 185 unnumbered copies (incl. 10 on vellum), of which 158 were for sale, one of the 157 on Arches hand-made paper. Binyon (1869-1943), Orientalist and later Keeper of Prints and Drawings at the British Museum, was an early friend of Charles Ricketts and Charles Shannon, founders of the Vale Press. There he met Pissarro who was part of the group of writers, scholars and artists around Ricketts and Shannon.
