First French edition (1st Italian: 1770) by the physicist Joseph Daquin (1732-1815), pioneer in psychiatry. Important work for meteorology establishing the lunar and stellar influences on weather. It is based on observations of the pluviometry and temperatures in Padua from 1725 until 1780 (cfr the 3 fold. plates). Toaldo was the first to observe the connection between tides and changes in weather. He also observed the influence of weather on the number of deaths; p. 229 shows a table of the deaths in Padua for the first 3 months of 1755. The abbot Toaldo (1719-1797) was appointed to the Chair of Astronomy in Padua in 1762. He edited the works of Galilei and was a fervent defender of Benjamin Franklin's view of atmospheric electricity. Following Toaldo's work, the translation by Antoine-Louis Bricci of Aratus's work on astronomy "Phenomena".
