A collection of essays by one of the most renowned historians and novelists of his time, the controversial English writer Froude (1818-1894), who believed that the objective of writing history was simply to record human actions and, as such, should be written as a drama. As a consequence, his work was often criticized for its prejudice and inaccuracy.
