6 parts in 1 vol., 4to: [8]-18-12-12-20-9-8-[2 bl.] pp. (title strengthened at inner margin, spotting and sl. browning, some worming in blank central margin).

Mod. vellum, flat spine with red leather label, red sp. edges. Good copy.

Latin translation of this work by the Irish natural philosopher and inventor Robert Boyle (1627-1691), regarded as the first modern chemist. The orig. ed. (1670) was titled "Tracts about the cosmical qualities of things, the temperature of the subterraneal and submarine regions, the bottom of the sea, &tc. with an Introduction to the history of particular qualities". Possibly publ. as part of his "Opera varia" (De Tournes, 1677-1680). Each part with caption title and pagination. Woodcut mark on title.
