Rare first French edition translated by Tassert from the first three volumes of "Beiträge zur chemischen Kenntniss der Mineralkörper" (Berlin 1795-1802) by the German chemist M.H. Klaproth. He was the most outstanding analytical chemist of his time discovering uranium (1789), zirconium (1789) and cerium (1803), titanium (1792), chromium (1797) and strontium (1793) and confirming previous discoveries of tellurium (1798) and beryllium (1798). He also was one of the earliest adherents of the Lavoisierian doctrines outside France.
