Contemp. calf (shaved and rubbed, corners bumped), gilt orn. spine on 4 raised bands (joints split, def. at head and tail), sp. edges.
Reprint of the Ravesteyn edition of 1651, with the same plate for the engraved title. One of the most important books on embryology and reproduction to appear during the 17th century by Harvey (1578-1657). "The chapter on labour ("De partu") in this book represents the first original work on obstetrics to be published by an English author" (Garrison & Morton).
