Lot description
8vo: 118 pp. (lacking final blank; toned, soiled and dampstained, some paper flaws at top and fore-edge margin, f. H3 def. with loss of some text and clumsy repairs with sellotape, 1st word of title torn off and added in ink).
Mod. blind-decorated calf, spine with 5 raised bands, (older) blue edges, front cover titled in ink (lower cover sl. rubbed). A reasonably good copy.
2nd ed. (1st Geneva 1574) of the Latin version of "Sorciers" (Geneva 1574), a treatise against sorcerers, soothsayers and fortune-tellers by the French jurist and Calvinist theologian Daneau (1535-1595), from 1581-1583 professor of theology in Leiden. Woodcut mark on title.
