Rare anthology of Latin (esp. Neo-Latin) epigrams by the German scholar B. Nihusius (1590-1657). A Protestant convert to Catholicism, he was i.a. active in the Dutch Republic as a corrector with J. Blaeu, and as a friend of G. Vossius and Vondel. In 1655 he was named suffragan bishop of Saxony and Thuringia. Included are Italian, French, "Belgian" (a.o. Huygens, Lipsius, Papebrochius), English (a.o. Th. More), German (a.o. Opitz), Scottish, Polish poets. Woodcut device on title.
