Very nice cont. blind-stamped pigskin over wood, covers ruled with fillets and roll-stamps & orn. with central panels (fig. the Annunciation and the Christ "Ego sum lux mundi"), spine on raised bands, clasps (sm. wormholes, front joint partly split).
Rare Plantin ed. (1st 1575; 1st ed. in Portuguese: 1549) of a voluminous textbook for priests hearing confession, compiled by the Spanish canonist M. Azpilcueta (1492-1586). The treatise systematically deals with i.a. the Ten Commandments, and hence with homicide (pp. 238-253) and sex (pp. 253-276, 434-442). Woodcut mark on title. Ref.
