Cont. vellum, flat spine titled in ink (sl. rubbed). Very good copy.

Dutch translation of "Histoire métallique de la République de Hollande" (first 1687), a representative collection of medals illustrating the history of the Dutch Republic, collected by the scholarly French canon Pierre Bizot (1630-1696). With an additional part on the funeral monuments for the Dutch heroes (Tromp, de Ruiter, Hein,...). Engr. ill.: frontisp., title, 123 numbered plates (first part) + 15 lettered A-P (2nd part, including 1 folding pl. titled "tombe des Princes d'Orange à Delft" by Swidde), 2 portraits of William III and Mary Stuart by D. Mortier, 3 head- and 2 endpieces and 141 ills in text depicting medals. Ref. De Kesel B-125. - STCN (i.a. BL). Prov. "van de Spiegel 1801", "Vander Plaet 1879" (?)
