First edition of the anonymous atlas, usually attributed to the author of the dissertations, Nicholas Gueudeville (1652-1721) and the engraver of the maps, presumably Zacharie Châtelain (and not his son Henri Abraham). The atlas formed part of an immense seven-volume encyclopedia, covering a range of subjects including genealogy, cosmography, topography, heraldry and chronology. Our copy is complete with its 44 numbered plates mentioned in the table, including chronological and genealogical tables, the 16 maps mentioned in Koeman and based upon those of Guillaume de l'Isle.
