Engr., on 4 sheets, together 64 x 98 cm, borders and cartouche hand-coloured (very sm. tear in lower central fold, some traces of folds).
Finely engraved map of the empire of Charlemagne, cities mentioned with their ancient names. With a decorative title cartouche. The dedication "Ludovico [...] Christi" is a chronogram for 1573. This map was also used by the Blaeu's in their "Theatrum Orbis Terrarum". Verso blank.
