Mod. marbled paper, flat spine (parts of spine missing, corners bumped, rubbed).

First edition of a history on the reign of French Renaissance king Francis I (1494-1547) by the humanist historian Paradin (c. 1510-1590). Title within the elaborate de Tournes "Midas" woodcut border, with woodcut initials and endpieces.
