12mo: [6]-195 pp. (sl. age-toned, occ. soiling or sl. spotting).
Contemp. sheep, gilt-orn. spine with raised bands, red edges (rubbed, upper and lower parts of the spine missing, joints split).
First edition of the history of Thamas Kouli-Kan or Nader Shah Afshar (1688-1747), founder of the Afsharid dynasty and shah of Iran from 1736 to 1747. He fought numerous campaigns and especially against the Mogol. In 1738, he reached Delhi massacring about 10.000 people. He was assassinated after a conspiracy formed against him by his own nephew and the commander of his bodyguard. Work attributed by Barbier to the French Jesuit Du Cerceau (1670-1730), author of many plays. A second part was published in 1741.
