Obl. 8vo: [2]-24 pp.; 39 pl. (1st few ff. incl. title sl. used & frayed, some min. spotting in blank margin, 2 fold. pl. underl. closing tear).
Mod. quarter cloth, boards covered with marbled paper, flat gilt-titled spine. Good copy.
Very rare pocket atlas on the Peloponnese by the Venetian cartographer Coronelli (1650-1718), here in a Dutch ed. published by the Antwerp engraver G. Bouttats (c. 1640-1695) of "Memorie istoriografiche de' Regni della Morea, Negroponte e Littorali fin' a Salonichi Accresciute [...]" (1686). Engr. ill.: folding portrait of the dedicatee Francesco Morosini (the Venice general who drove the Ottomans out of Morea in 1687), folding map of Morea (1 fold splitting) and 37 (of 38) pl. showing bird's-eye views and plans of cities, bays, forts on the Peloponnese (Patras, Nauplion, Koroni, Kalamata), but also the Saronic Gulf, Lepanto, Athens, Megara, Negroponte, and the isles of Corfu, Kythira, Zakynthos and Kefalonia. At the end 2 pl. "Afbeldinge vande Tuerckze peerde-starten nu gewonnen door de Venetianen in de Batalie bij Coron, 1685" and "Standart der Turken gewonnen [...], 1685". Only missing pl. 17 "Korinten". Text ff. in Dutch, captions of the maps in French. "It appears that no less than fifteen editions of this work appeared between 1686 and 1688, with versions in Italian, French, English, German and Dutch" (Blackmer).
