2 vol., 4to: [2]-xxxxi-[3]-600, [2]-601/1233-[1 bl.] pp. (without the "avis au relieur" at the end of vol. 1, one pl. loose in 1st vol., some tears in a couple of fold. pl. due to folding, some browning).

Contemp. mottled calf, gilt-orn. spines with raised bands, red edges (joints cracked, spines, heads and tails def.).

The famous biographical dictionary of Latin authors from the Low Countries. Engr. ill.: 3 nice headpieces by Harrewijn i.a. a library scene and 144 (79, 65) portraits outside collation (a few folding) by Harrewijn, C. Galle, N. de Larmessin, etc. depicting authors, artists, painters, musicians, scientists, printers such as A. Ortelius, A. Vesalius, A. Van Dyck, B. Moretus, C. Plantin, G. Mercator, H. Goltzius, J. Van Eyck, J. Vondel, J. Lipsius, O. de Lassus, P.P. Rubens, J. Cats, etc. Sm. engr. portraits of Estius and Fr. Villain loosely added. Text printed in double col. Titles in red and black.
