Lot description
Copperplate, 14,5 x 10,5 cm (visible), signed "DT" (some oxidation, mostly on edges).
Framed (not studied outside frame). The lines are inked to appreciate the composition.
A standing man with a cane and a merchant with wine or beer barrels. Copperplate for an etching after David Teniers II (1610-1690), possibly by the same printmaker who produced other prints after Teniers with an inverted monogram (when printed). See other examples in Amsterdam (Rijksmuseum, inv. RP-P-1880-A-4368, RP-P-1881-A-4730). In the lower margin several testing lines. Impressions of this plate are rare.
Ref. Not in Hollstein.
Prov. Mrs. Parmentier-Bonnerens, descendant of the family of Anna Maria Bonnarens, i.e. the wife of David Teniers III (joined ms. note from 1935).
