Lot description
Mezzotint, 24,4 x 17,8 cm, title and signature on balustrade: "GERARDUS LARISSE / PICTOR / LEODIENSIS. / G. Larisse pinx.", Latin dedication to De Lairesse at bottom, signature and address below: "P. Schenck Sculp: C. P. Amstelod.", circular Latin inscription at top (trimmed outside platemark, few spots and scratches).
Mounted on paper. Good impression and condition.
Refined mezzotint by Pieter Schenck (1660-1713) after a painted self-portrait of Gerard de Lairesse (1641-1711). 1st state before the reworked face and with the circular inscription still legible.
