Lot description

365 silver prints, diff. sizes, pasted on support paper, protected with tissue guards, ms. legends in ink.

Kept in an 4to-size obl. album, brown cloth (spine detached).

Travel photo album of a voyage with the former Belgian steamship Anversville, to Congo, Africa. Some identified names: "Audrée", "Mr Bemelmans, le docteur", "Mme Hubaille et Guy Teyrich", etc. under the legends of the first photographs of friends playing games on the deck of the ship. Photos of the arrival at Tenerife, at Banana (small seaport in Congo), at Isle Mateba and Boma, a market in Mateba, local dwellings and people. Other stops in Lukala, Moerbeke-Kwilu sugar factory, Moerbeke [Kwilu-Ngongo] village, Cattier, Kisantu, Leopoldville with a visit by "la force commerciale par le gouverneur Antonetti", departure and arrival by plane OO-AIU at Bandundu, some aerial photos, arrival by plane at Port-Francqui (now Ilebo), a visit at "Tchimgulu", Lubudi, Bukama, Elisabethville, Elisabethville railway station and prominent people, military parade on the 21st of July probably in Elisabethville, Kipuski mine, Jadoville (now Likasi), the dam at Mwadingusha, Kambove mine, to end the journey on board again, after an excursion at Tenerife, with commander Bosquet on the Albertville.
