17th-c. vellum, flat spine with red leather label, yellow edges (rubbed, sm. lack to one edge).
First edition of this European history from the sack of Rome by the Visigoths in 410 until 1442, with additions by the Neapolitan-born Giannantonio Campano. Blondus (1392-1463) conceived a larger work but he died before he could accomplish it and only wrote the first 3 decades and the first book of the fourth, based only on accurate primary sources. Blondus is the first to use the expression of "Middle Age". Text in roman type. Capital spaces without guide-letters. Ref.
