Contemp. calf, gilt orn. spine with 4 raised bands, red leather title label, red edges (joints, head and tail def., lower cover def.).
Very rare Dutch edition of this slave narrative in two parts (first in French: 1656, first in Dutch: 1657) by and about the Southern Netherlandish traveler, historian and poet E. de Aranda (1612-ca. 1686) who lived in Barbary slavery for two years and wrote his experiences down in this work. Ill. with an engr. title. Part two with title "Bysondere verhaelen vande gedenck-weerdige voor-vallen geduerende den tijdt vande slaeverny', ende bekomen vrydom [...]"
