Folio: [217 (of 218)], [271 (of 272)] ff. (lacking initial blanks), 64 ll. (f. a3 stained).
17th-c. blind-stamped sheep, covers with blind-ruled frames and roll-stamp borders, gilt spine on 5 raised bands with leather label (rubbed, front joint splitting, head and tail def., flyleaves gone). Good copy.
Pts III-IV of the 1st ed. of the Sentences by Petrus Lombardus (1100-1160) with commentary by St Bonaventure (1217-1274). Lombard, an Italian theologian, was made Bishop of Paris in 1159, the year before he died. This work (1st publ. 1471) consists of theological questions posed by Lombard, divided into 4 books: the third book deals with Christ and the Christian religion; and the fourth comprises questions on religious and moral duties.
