17th-c. gilt calf, covers with gilt ruled border and gilt central ornament, spine on 3 raised bands (rubbed, corners bumped, head and tail def., gilt fading). Good copy.

2nd ed. (1st Antwerp 1628) of Jansenius’ famous “Discourse on the Reform of the Inner Man”, held for a congenial company in Affligem Abbey. It contains in a nutshell his central idea: men are predestined to obtain grace or to suffer condemnation. This is the germ out of which the “Augustinus” grew. Ref.
